My name is Colin Pritchett, I enjoy photography immensly and have owned
film cameras from a 4X5 View, 4X5 Graflex, and Mamiya 645 1000S to a Canon AE-1, AE1-P, Rebel G, Eos 10s, and Eos Elan
IIe. I now shoot with a Fujifilm Finepix S5100.
I develop my own B&W sheet and roll film
at home and have learned to use this equipment by reading and practice. I
have settled on digital for the ease of processing although I feel that film is a superior medium in terms of quality.
I believe that everyone should start with a fully manual
camera and learn the fundamentals of photography rather than starting with a automated film or digital camera. Using
a manual camera broadens the understanding of how light is transmitted and forces one to concentrate on composition rather
than shooting roll after roll, and hoping for a good shot.
